Today Linda Evangelista made the news for coming forward with a heartfelt account about her experience with Coolsculpting.
Coolsculpting has been around for years and is the industry leader in nonsurgical fat reduction.
But is it really the best option?
The earliest facelifts were skin-only (subcutaneous) lifts that looked good initially but did not last long due to the weak mechanics of skin (the weakest organ).
These days, one of the most-requested facial problem areas is a small shadow that originates from the corner of the mouth and angles downward.
The plastic surgery field has grown exponentially in recent years which means your options for doctors and practices have grown as well.
So how do you know if you're getting the highest quality service?
Before considering surgery, you should always do your homework on the procedure and the doctor in question.
There's no one more qualified than Dr. Zelken to handle your plastic surgery needs.
He trained in general surgery and plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a highly competitive fellowship in microsurgery.
The abdominal wall is a complex structure that must be well-understood before reconstruction is pursued.
Think of the wall as a tube, or pressure generator that aids in balance, orientation in three-dimensional space, micturition, defecation, parturition, coughing, breathing, and phonation.
Layers including skin, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle, pre peritoneal fat, and peritoneum.
In simpler terms, there are two layers: (a) cutaneous or superficial and (b) musculofascial or deep, insofar as reconstruction is concerned.
Losing a lot of weight is something to celebrate.
Seriously, congratulations!
Strut your stuff, and by all means, treat yourself no a new wardrobe.
While skin snaps back in some folks, often times, it retains it memory and that extra baggage can be as troublesome as the extra weight.
After any substantial amount of weight loss, whether from weight loss surgery or lifestyle changes, the skin and tissues often lack the elasticity to conform to your new, reduced body size.
We call this "massive weight loss".
