I have been practicing plastic surgery in Manhattan for 30 years and have been lucky to be listed in the Castle and Connolly and New York Magazine "Best Doctor" publications many times. Although I enjoy my position as Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Lenox Hill and Manhattan, Eye, Ear and Throat Hospitals and my leadership positions in national plastic surgery organizations, my real interest and expertise is performing surgery and taking care of patients.
Making people happy never gets old. We all have physical features that we don't like and, in some cases, would like to change. I would like to help you. I invite you to explore this site and those linked to it and to contact us. I cannot guarantee perfect results in every patient, every time (be careful if anyone does!). I do guarantee that my staff and I offer a degree of professionalism, concern, honesty, competence and individualization that equals or surpasses any surgical experience in the world.
As is typical for a cosmetic plastic surgeon in New York City, or any major metropolitan area, my practice becomes more specialized as each year passes.

Services
I have been practicing in Manhattan for over 25 years and have learned a lot about how to make plastic surgery patients happy and more attractive.
Plastic Surgery is a fascinating field because what makes one person ecstatically happy may be what makes another person self-conscious.
For example, two patients may have very similar noses.
One patient is desperate to have it changed.
The other loves her nose and would never change it!
I begin my consultations by listening.
Some patients are more talkative than others and some are shy to reveal their real desires, but I attempt to elucidate what the patient really wants.

Facelifting was first performed in the early 1900s and for most of the 20th century involved skin undermining and skin excision.
A revolution occurred in the 1970s when the public became exponentially more interested in the procedure and Skoog described dissection of the superficial fascia of the face in continuity with the platysma in the neck.
Since then techniques have been described that involve every possible skin incision, plane of dissection, extent of tissue manipulation, type of instrumentation, and method of fixation.

Many patients who are unhappy with a facelift come seeking more surgery.
The problem is that they often already look like they have had too much surgery.
So how do you make someone who looks like he/she has had too much surgery look LESS operated on by doing more surgery?! That's the challenge and that's why I find the field of secondary or redo or revision facelifts so interesting.
To be honest, it is not always possible to make an operated face look less operated.
But frequently it is possible and these patients tend to be enormously grateful.

Despite constant attention to detail, complications do occur.
The most common problems and methods to prevent and to treat such complications are summarized in the following sections (13).
Hematomas are by far the most common complication after facelifting and vary from large collections of blood that threaten the survival of the skin flaps (and even compromise the airway) to small collections that are evident only when facial edema has subsided.
Most major hematomas occur during the first 10 to 12 hours postoperatively.
